Vintage 2019. Undoubtedly one of the most difficult vintages of the century. The intense rains that fell in September will go down in the history of the region, causing significant damage to our vineyard. In some plots the loss of production was very high. The 2019 Megala harvest was a challenge since an exhaustive selection of bunches had to be carried out in the field to guarantee the quality of the grape. The cool nights allowed a good phenolic maturity to be obtained and, although somewhat low, the alcoholic strength levels were acceptable.
18-22 year old Monastrell, Tempranillo and Marselán vineyards from our Casa Corones estate in Fontanars dels Alforins.
Very nice deep red colour. At first glance, it looks like a much younger wine than it is. Floral aromas predominate, aromas of roses, carnation, aromas of Mediterranean forest, garrigue, juniper and thyme. The oak is very well assembled and does not dominate the wine. Great fruitiness, ripe plum. Very elegant finish in the mouth, sweet, fine tannins. Toasted from the wood reminiscent of aromas of chocolate, cocoa, liquorice. Well balanced, good acidity. Very elegant wine.
It evolves favorably in the bottle, compoting the fruit, developing liquorice aromas, polishing the tannin even more. A wonderful wine!
Consume between 2022 and 2030.
